From crystal blue beaches to towering forests, caves, rolling vineyards and beautiful rivers, the landscape of WA’s South West is extremely diverse. Check out our recommended list of the top 5 things you need to see and do:
- Sugarloaf Rock, Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park
Sugarloaf Rock ranks as one of the best attractions to visit in the South West. The large granite rock is an icon of the region and makes for a stunning photo. The waters and skies around the rock teem with life, making it popular for whale watching and bird watching.
- Busselton Jetty, Busselton
Busselton Jetty is the longest timber piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere! The old jetty has stood the test of time, weathering many storms over the years. At the far end of the jetty is an Underwater Conservatory, where a range of marine creatures can be seen.
- Hamelin Bay
Hamelin Bay is a quiet sandy bay that is famous for being a stingray habitat. Snorkelers can swim amongst the friendly stingrays and even stop by several shipwrecks that have found their final resting place at the bottom of the watery bay!
- Boranup Karri Forest
Just south of Margaret River is the Boranup Karri Forest, where Karri trees can reach up to 60 metres tall! Take a short drive through the forest to Boranup Lookout to enjoy sweeping views over the coast.
- Margaret River wine tour
Margaret River is famous for its many wineries and breweries! A guided or self-guided tour through the many popular venues is a must-do. Most wineries in the area offer wine tastings and delicious gourmet food options.
