Drop in new builds allows BGC Housing Group to focus on construction of quality homes

BGC Housing Group has maintained its top ranking in today’s Housing Industry Association (HIA) Top 100 Australian Builders 2022 list, once again being named the largest builder in WA.

The annual Colorbond Steel Housing 100 survey measures new home starts over the past financial year. Figures show BGC Housing Group had the most 2021-2022 WA dwellings commence construction, with a total of 1,980, down from 4,205 last year.

BGC Housing Group Executive General Manager Michael Bartier said the drop in new home builds commenced reflects the responsible approach taken by the company to manage the current pipeline of work from the 2020 Federal and State Government Stimulus grants.

“While the results are pleasing for us it’s not about the numbers but doing the right thing by our customers,” said Bartier.

“We are solely focused on delivering quality new homes to our customers and navigating the challenges the industry is currently facing with material and labour constraints and we have a number of strategies in play to achieve that.

“These are unprecedented times being faced by the industry and we have shifted our entire focus to delivering homes to clients in a safe and sensible way.”

The HIA results are reflective of the current pressures being felt by the industry across the country.
