$69,440K HomeBuilder rebate. Let’s build your new home.
We can all agree that 2020 hasn’t exactly gone to plan so far. However, there’s finally some news to get excited about: the new construction stimulus package, recently announced by the Federal Government, offers a huge $25K HomeBuilder rebate towards building the home of your dreams.
In addition, the stage government has introduced a $20,000 Building Bonus grant for any West Australian to build a new house or purchase a property in a single-tier development already under construction.
They will be on top of the Federal Government’s HomeBuilder Grants, as well as WA’s First Home Owner Grants and first home buyer duty concession, meaning someone who qualifies for all four could access up to $69,440 in Government assistance to help build their first home.

Federal HomeBuilder $25,000
- Operates from 4 June 2020 to 31 December 2020;
- The building contract must be signed during this period;
- Construction must commence within 3 months of signing;
- Investors not eligible;
- Means tested (be on or less $125,000 for individuals, $200,000 for couples)
- New home value limit at up to $750,000.
State Stimulus $20,000
- Operates from 4 June 2020 to 31 December 2020;
- The building contract must be signed during this period;
- For any homebuyer in WA who wishes to build a new house or purchase a new property in a single-tier development prior to competition of construction;
- Not limited to owner-occupiers;
- Not means tested;
- No cap on property values;
- A building contract must be entered into by 31 December 2020 to be eligible, with a further six months to June 2021 available for construction commencement.
Who Qualifies?
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a current or prospective owner-occupier – not an investor
- Be a natural person, not a company or trust
- Be an Australian citizen
- Earn $125,000 or less a year for singles or less than $200,000 a year for couples (based on your last tax return, which cannot be earlier than 2018/19)
